Nigeria’s largest carrier, Air Peace, has distanced itself from misleading advertisements and social media campaigns falsely suggesting that the airline encourages pregnant women to travel to Barbados to give birth in order to obtain citizenship benefits. In a statement issued by its management, the airline categorically denied any involvement in the online promotions, stressing that it has never advertised, endorsed or facilitated travel for such purposes.
According to Air Peace, since the launch of its direct Lagos-Barbados service, the route has been promoted solely as a gateway for legitimate travel, including tourism, business, trade, education and cultural exchange between Africa and the Caribbean. “The airline has no involvement whatsoever in any advertisements, social media campaigns, or online promotions encouraging pregnant women to travel to Barbados for the purpose of giving birth or obtaining citizenship benefits,” the statement said.
Air Peace explained that, like other commercial airlines, its tickets are sold through accredited travel agencies, online booking platforms and its official sales channels. As such, the airline does not have prior knowledge of passengers’ personal circumstances, including pregnancy status, until the standard check-in and travel documentation processes are completed. The airline also refuted claims linking it to an individual featured in a widely circulated online article, clarifying that the person is not an Air Peace ambassador, influencer, employee, representative or affiliate.
It further emphasized that any videos, advertisements or social media posts circulating on platforms such as Facebook regarding the issue were created without its authorization, sponsorship or approval. According to the airline, the misleading content does not bear Air Peace’s official branding, has never been published on any of its official digital platforms, and should not be construed as representing the airline’s policies, values or marketing strategy.

Reaffirming its commitment to responsible operations, Air Peace said it continues to comply fully with all applicable aviation, immigration and destination-country regulations while expanding air connectivity between Africa and the Caribbean. The carrier added that its focus remains on facilitating tourism, trade, investment, education and cultural exchange through its Barbados service and other international routes. Air Peace urged the public and media organizations to disregard unauthorized online content and rely exclusively on information disseminated through the airline’s official communication channels.
