Africa: Nigeria’s Tourism Body, FTAN Seeks Stronger Industry Collaboration During Visit to Transcorp Hotels CEO

The President of the Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria (FTAN), Dr. Badaki Aliyu, today led a delegation on a working visit to the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Transcorp Hotels Plc, Mrs. Uzo Oshogwe, as part of efforts to strengthen collaboration between the private sector umbrella body and key industry stakeholders.

Other members of FTAN’s delegates include Mrs. Susan Akporiaye -1st Deputy President, Chief Abiodun Odusanwo – ITPN President, Mr. Samson Aturu, – immediate past President of HATMAN, Mr. Onofiok Ekong – Financial Secretary of FTAN, Geraldine Itoe – Deputy President of NATOP and lastly, the federation’s secretary, Precious Okonji.

During the visit, Dr. Badaki Aliyu appreciated the management of Transcorp Hotels for their prompt response to the federation’s request for the meeting. He used the opportunity to introduce FTAN as the umbrella body of the private sector in the tourism industry, comprising over 25 member associations spanning the hospitality, travel and tours, manpower development, and other tourism related bodies.

The President also reminded the MD/CEO of the long-standing relationship between the Federation and Transcorp Hotels, expressing his commitment to sustaining and strengthening the partnership for the overall growth of the tourism and hospitality industry in Nigeria.

Dr. Badaki further commended Transcorp Hotels for its high operational standards, professionalism, and commitment to capacity building, noting that the Federation is working diligently with the  Nigeria Tourism Development Authority, NTDA, and the ministry of Arts, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, to ensure that similar standards are embraced across the entire tourism ecosystem thereby leading to the development of the tourism sector in Nigeria. He emphasized that the relationship has been mutual.

In the course of the discussions, the FTAN President informed the management of Transcorp Hotels about the upcoming 9th Nigeria Tourism Investors Forum and Exhibition (NITE 2026) scheduled to hold on July 28–29, 2026, and sought the organization’s partnership.
