Africa: Seychelles Deserves More Than Ceremony, Says Lalyans Nouvo Sesel Ahead of National Day

Lalyans Nouvo Sesel

Political movement Lalyans Nouvo Sesel has called for deeper reflection and meaningful action ahead of Seychelles’ National Day, urging that patriotism be measured not by pageantry or loyalty to leaders, but by a steadfast commitment to the wellbeing of the Seychellois people.

The group emphasized that national pride should translate into tangible progress and accountability, not mere celebration.

The Party says, for too long, we’ve been told to be grateful for “stability” while prices rise, standards fall, and the gap between privilege and hardship widens. We’ve watched ministers reward themselves while families struggle. We’ve seen our youth labelled and overlooked, our elders sidelined, and our resources mishandled — all in the name of progress.

But real patriotism dares to question. It dares to dream. And above all, it dares to do better.

At Lalyans Nouvo Sesel, we’re not just preparing for an election — we’re preparing for a new chapter. One where the people matter more than party colours. One where plans replace propaganda, and where dignity is restored in every home, not just in speeches.

We will:

* Tackle the cost of living with real economic reform, not shallow headlines

* Empower our farmers, fishers, and youth — instead of exporting our future

* Clean up the mess in housing, healthcare, and utilities — because basics should never be luxuries

* End the quiet giveaway of our land and resources — and put Seychelles back in Seychellois hands

We’re not just raising a flag.

We’re raising our voice.

Raising our identity.

Raising a nation that remembers who it is.

Let this National Day ignite something deeper — a revival of our Creole pride, our values, our traditions. A return to the spirit of solidarity that built this country from island to island, hand in hand.

This time, we will not simply celebrate Seychelles.

We will reclaim it.

We will rebuild it.

We will put Seychellois first — proudly, boldly, and together.

This is our moment.

This is our Alliance.
