Tanzania’s Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism has recorded remarkable growth in the country’s tourism sector, with total visitor numbers rising from 1.7 million in 2021 to 5.2 million in 2024, driven by a sharp increase in both international and domestic tourism.
According to dailynews.co, additionally, tourism revenues have seen a significant rise, jumping from 1.3 US dollars in 2021 to 3.9bn US dollars in 2024.
This announcement was made by the Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism, Ambassador Dr. Pindi Chana, during a public gathering attended by the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, at the Old Bus Stand Grounds in Bariadi District, Simiyu Region.
Minister Chana attributed this success to the implementation of directives from President Samia, particularly in addressing challenges posed by dangerous and destructive wild animals, as well as the revision of compensation regulations to create more citizen-friendly laws.
Furthermore, the government has continued to build ranger outposts to help control wildlife threats. In Bariadi District, such stations have been established in Hangandefa, Tumba, and Ndabaka, with more under construction in other areas.
The Minister also noted that the government is continuing to educate youth through the Likuyu Sekamaganga College, preparing them to become Village Game Scouts to assist in managing dangerous and destructive wildlife within their communities.
