Following his victory at the just concluded gubernatorial elections, the re-elected Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde has been lauded following the good work done in the last four years by Dr. Dagunduro Olatokunbo who is the National Treasurer of National Association of Nigeria TRAVEL Agencies (NANTA) and Amb. Taiwo and Kehinde Oguntoye, the founders of Twins Tourism.
In a statement released to National Insight, Dr. Dagunduro Olatokunbo who is also the state Coordinator Federation of Tourism Association of Nigeria (FTAN) Osun State, said that the next four years should focus on consolidation of the good works which he is doing within the state.
“The innovative and proactive leadership style of Engr. Makinde is unrivaled and same should be channeled into improving the Tourism sector in the state. If we harness and invest much into tourism it will be a money spinner that will boost the revenue of the state.”
Dr. Dagunduro who also dubs as the Chief Executive Officer of Rhapsody Travels affirm that there is hardly any Local Government within Oyo State without at least two tourist potentials but the Government should be ready to open up such natural endowment. “The need to engage stakeholders and fix some of the this professionals within the tourism board, set up a Tourism Technical Working Group is of essence. If we harness, improve and sustain our sites it will boost the IGR of the state and naturally provide jobs to thousands of Oyo State citizens and residents.”
He insisted that the first Oyo State Tourism Summit is long overdue to position the sector for vibrancy in the state. Dagunduro however prayed that God will give His excellency Engr. Makinde the wisdom and wherewithal to sail the state to higher grounds.
Also to congratulate the re-elected Governor are the founders of Twins Tourism, Amb. Taiwo and Kehinde Oguntoye. In a statement made available to the press, they said that Makinde’s victory symbolized a good omen for more development for the state, especially in the tourism sector. They noted that Governor Makinde’s victory showed that the good people of Oyo State have so much trust in his leadership.
“As the most famous twins in African tourism and initiators of World Twins Festival, like we stated last year during your physical appearance as the first governor in Africa to attend the World Twins Festival, tourism is a way to go for Oyo State and we are happy Your Excellency included it in Omituntun 2.0. We are thankful to God that all the prayers offered to you by the Twins Gathering didn’t go unfulfilled. “As a promise keeping governor, we are optimistic that the State will see great transformation in our tourism assets promotion and development.
“There is no doubting the fact that your second tenure will create more partnership, open door policy vistas of opportunities for tourism practitioners which will enhance contribution of their professional experience, skill and knowledge in developing tourism to further translate into socio-economic and infrastructural advancements for the benefits of the people and advancement of the State.
“We are particularly glad that your Excellency performance in the first term didn’t go unnoticed as there were influx of hotel brands in the state. However, as we all look forward to the developmental plans in Omituntun 2.0, we admonish your Excellency to create a stand-alone Ministry for Arts, Culture, and Tourism in the state.
