XEJet Express has appointed Hamzat Bukar as its new General Manager, effective immediately, bringing more than 30 years of aviation leadership experience to the role.
According to a statement by the airline, Bukar joins XEJet Express from Arik Air Limited, where he most recently served as Vice President, Ground Operations, overseeing airport operations, ground personnel, sales, marketing, security, finance and safety compliance across the airline’s network.

During his career at Arik Air, he held several senior positions, including Associate Vice President for Abuja & North, Associate Vice President for UAE & Gulf Operations, Regional Manager (North) and Station Manager. His aviation career also includes leadership roles at United Nigeria Airline, where he served as General Manager Operations; Hayes Meridan Group, as Country Director; and Al-Barka Airline, where he managed cabin services, training and air operations for Hajj and Umrah programmes.
Bukar holds a B.A. in English Language from the University of Maiduguri, as well as a postgraduate diploma in Aviation Management Systems from the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT), Zaria. He has also completed programmes in government relations and competitive strategy at Lagos Business School, alongside IATA certifications in airline business models and human factors in aviation. In his new position, Bukar will oversee ground and network operations at XEJet Express, drawing on his experience in airport operations, regulatory compliance and stakeholder management to support the airline’s continued growth
