A US National has been arrested by the international Airport Police command for slapping and inflicting injury on a car tow operator.

The American whose name was given as Breddlove Shawn, 56 arrived Nigeria this morning to visit his fiancee, and on coming out of the terminal saw his fiancee in a heated argument with a tow operator.

Problem was said to have started when the Uber driver hired by Miss Adefunke Adebola parked in a No parking zone of the airport.

According to the Supritendent of Police in charge of the terminal, Danjuma Garba Rimah, when the tow operator insisted that the Uber cab would be towed away, Mr. Shawn resisted the attempt, slapped the operator and took the car key from the Uber driver and pushed it into one of his ears and the key broke.

He is on detention and by God’s grace, we are charging him to court. He is US citizen. Actually what happened was that he came to Nigeria to see his fiancee.

The fiancee name is Adefunke Adegbola. So when he came to Nigeria, the fiancee now took Uber to the airport. The woman went and parked at a wrong place. When towing van came to tow the vehicle from that place.

The lady was inside because they have already received the foreigner inside the Uber. The oyibo man came out and started dragging with the towing van people. He said they should not tow the vehicle. Then, they told him that it was wrong parking.. The towing man pushed him and he collected the key from the Uber man and stabbed the towing van man with the key between the ear and the jaw. The key now went inside and broke”.

” Blood was from flowing out of the victim’s ear, the foreigner was arrested and the tow operator name Femi Banjoko, 35 was rushed to the hospital where he was operated on.

Rimah explained that when the suspect was taken to the Besaam police station, family members of his fiancee trouped to the station to beg for his release but the foreigner boosted that they cannot do him anything.
The SP said,” he boosted nothing will happen to him and said he was informed that Nigeria is a lawless country, can you go to America and do this kind of a thing?”.

Rimah said Mr. Shaw would be charged to court tomorrow for the assault.
Managing Director/CEO of the tow company Alhaji Akinlolu Falekulo almost on a daily basis, his staff are beaten and harassed for doing their job of ensuring sanity at the arrival and departure terminals.

“Everyday, we face problem with security people, VIPs and even staff and FAAN for parking their cars in front and the side of the terminal and No parking zone area, we have been doing our best but the job is difficult with these people”.

” The Management of the terminal and the service delivery department have trying for us, we report to them when there is problem but they are also constrain, it is not easy for us and them”.
