Ghana’s leading carrier, Africa World Airlines has commenced flight operations in the country 33 days after it suspended its flight services following the outbreak of the deadly Coronavirus pandemic globally.
The airline operated its first operation with flight AW110 from Accra to Kumasi with a number of passengers.
The airline had earlier hinted that it will resume flight operations in the country following the lifting of the lockdown imposed by the government.
AWA in a statement had said it is resuming operations with limited domestic scheduled flight service.
“AWA will initially operate one daily roundtrip flight each from Accra to Kumasi and Tamale. Additional destinations and frequencies will be announced in due course. “
It said the flights will be operated with the highest safety protocols “which will include mandatory thermal screening and hand sanitization for all passengers and staff.
Furthermore, all passengers will be required to wear their own nose covering (either a face mask or a scarf/cloth covering) during the flight, and will be seated so that no passenger other than a child below 12 years is placed in an adjacent seat. Passengers unable to comply with these requirements will be denied travel.”
