Ethiopian Airlines has announced a significant expansion of its Cape Town operations, increasing service from three weekly flights a decade ago to 14 weekly flights effective March 30, 2026.
The move establishes double daily connections between Cape Town and the airline’s hub in Addis Ababa, providing passengers with seamless access to more than 140 destinations across five continents.
The airline said the expanded schedule is designed to offer shorter connection times and greater travel flexibility, positioning Addis Ababa as a key transit hub linking Southern Africa to Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and the Americas.
Passengers on the route will also benefit from enhanced onboard experience, with flights operated by modern aircraft including the Boeing 787 Dreamliner and the Airbus A350-1000, delivering improved comfort and efficiency.
Ethiopian Airlines highlighted its distinctive African hospitality and competitive fares as part of efforts to attract both business and leisure travellers, while strengthening connectivity between South Africa and the rest of the world.
The expansion underscores the airline’s continued growth strategy and its role in facilitating intra-African travel and global connections through its Addis Ababa hub.
