Airlink has announced plans to offer codeshare flights connecting Johannesburg with Paris, Frankfurt, and London, expanding its network and strengthening partnerships as the airline grows into 2026.

According to tourismupdate, in November 2025, Airlink applied to the International Air Services Council to amend its licence to include one return flight a week between OR Tambo International and Paris-Charles de Gaulle, Frankfurt International and London Heathrow airports.

Kathrine Whelan, Chief Commercial Officer at Airlink, told Tourism Update that it formed part of the airline’s plans to sell codeshare tickets on these routes.

“In line with South African and international aviation regulations, Airlink has applied for an amendment to its licence, enabling it to market and sell tickets for travel to Paris, Frankfurt and London on flights operated by a partner airline but bearing an Airlink flight number,” said Whelan.

Airlink currently has unilateral agreements with multiple airlines operating on these routes. This includes Air France, which services the Paris route, Lufthansa and Condor on the Frankfurt route and British Airways and Virgin Atlantic on the London Heathrow route.

However, should Airlink receive approval for the licence amendments from local and overseas regulators, there is potential for some of these unilateral partnerships to evolve into bilateral codeshare agreements.

Whelan added: “Airlink’s business model, focus and strength is in serving destinations across Southern and East Africa, Madagascar and St Helena, while providing convenient connections with its more than 30 international airline partners.”
