Lottery and sports betting industry has been described as a huge money spinning industry that records an average of N30billion transaction every month and can record far more transaction when fully harnessed. The disclosure was made by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Lagos State Lottery Board, Lanre Gbajabiamila, who added that besides being a well regulated sector in the state, the industry has the potentials to generate hundreds of thousands of employment. Gbajabiamila spoke at a Sales Agents Reward ceremony organized by Golden Chance Lottery to reward its Sub-Agents. He explained that if optimally explored the industry was capable of creating hundreds of thousands of employment opportunities adding that the major challenge to achieving that was the wrong perception about the practice as being the same as gambling. He was represented at the event by Olawale Adalemo.

Awardees at the event included Sub-Agents drawn from Lagos and Ogun States who recorded outstanding sales performance in the course of the year. The event saw 30 Sub-Agents of the leading Lottery brand cart home 10 Deep Freezers, 10 units of 42 Inches Plasma television and 10 brand new tricycles. Speaking earlier in his keynote address, Chief Executive Officer of Golden Chance Lottery, Idowu Obasa noted that the operations of Golden Chance Lottery was in accordance with the laws of Lagos State and decried the proliferation of illegal lotto brands in the country adding that stakers who patronize mushroom lotto brads stands the risk of not being paid when they win. He also acknowledged the importance of Sub-Agents to the success of the company’s operations.

“Golden Chance Lottery is a legal entity and we operate within the confines of the laws of Lagos State as regulated by the Lagos State Lottery Board. The presence of officials of the Lagos Lottery Board at this occasion is an attestation to that. However, I must warn Nigerians to desist from patronising illegal lottery brand that are all over the place because many of them do not have the capacity to redeem huge prize money when stakers win. “It is a proof of our capability that we are the first lottery brand to reward its Sub-Agents. You will recall that a reward scheme for Principal Agents was already in place; we also have plans to introduce rewards scheme for stakers very soon as a way to appreciate everybody in the business. However, I must add that the rewards is a reflection of the winners’ hard work as well as an acknowledgement of your performances and a call on you to work even harder because as they say, the reward for hard work is more work.

The reward will continue to increase as long as the value of you the agents increases,” Obasa stated. One of the 10 winners of the star prize of brand new tricycles popularly called Keke NAPEP, Israel Inyang expressed his delight at the winning disclosed that he will deploy the tricycle for local transportation business as a way to increase his stream of income.
