The Anglican Bishops of Abia State, Nigeria, extended their heartfelt congratulations to the Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, commending his exceptional accomplishments since taking office on May 29, 2023, in a closed-door meeting held at the Governor’s residence on a Saturday.
Led by His Grace, Archbishop Isaac C. Nwaobia, the Archbishop of Aba Province and the Head of the Church in Abia, this group of seven clergymen spoke to the media after their meeting with Governor Otti. They expressed their purpose for the visit, which was to offer felicitations on his election, his subsequent inauguration, and his exemplary performance in less than four months.
Archbishop Nwaobia highlighted the essence of their visit, stating, “We are here to congratulate His Excellency on his election, swearing in, and performance so far.” He went on to emphasize the strengthening of their relationship with the government, during which they offered prayers for the Governor.
Accompanying Archbishop Nwaobia were several other esteemed Bishops, including The Rt. Rev. Johnson C. Onuoha (Bishop of Arochukwu/Ohafia Diocese), The Rt. Rev. Chigozirim Onyegbule (Bishop of Ikwuano, Umuahia), The Rt. Rev. Manases Okere (Bishop of Ukwa Diocese), The Rt. Rev. Nathan Kanu (Bishop of Aba Ngwa North Diocese), The Rt. Rev. Temple Nwaogu (Bishop of Isiala Ngwa Diocese), and The Rt. Rev. Christian Anyim (Bishop of Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Diocese).
Governor Otti, in response to the Bishops’ visit, expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the Church’s unwavering support during the pre-election, election, and post-election phases. He offered prayers for the continuous blessings of God upon them as they stood by the government’s side for the betterment of Abia State.
In particular, he extended his appreciation to Archbishop Nwaobia, whom he affectionately referred to as his elder brother and spiritual father, for his consistent guidance and counsel.
Also present during the meeting were Apostle Kenneth. C. Wiper, Special Assistant to the Governor on Religious Matters, and Prince Uzor Nwachukwu, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs. Their presence underscored the significance of the gathering and the importance of the collaboration between the state government and religious leaders in Abia.
