Lagos Ferry Services has recorded a steady rise in daily passenger traffic, growing from an average of 1,500 commuters to about 2,000 passengers in 2025 since the inception of the administration of Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
The increase reflects the growing acceptance of water transportation as an alternative means of commuting in Lagos amid ongoing efforts by the state government to expand and modernise the waterways transport system.
Accordind to a statement by the state, it has successfully retrofitted 7 boats to meet modern safety, comfort and performance benchmarks, namely:
MF Apapa , MF Elegushi, MF Akran, MF Ayangburen
MF Majidun, MF Alausa, MF Ejirin
LAGFERRY enabled commerce, saving jobs by providing logistics solution to notable industries like Dangote Industry, BUA Industries, Crown Flour Mills etc through the movement of their goods by barges from Mile 2 to Apapa on the waterways.
