The West Africa Fashion Council (WAFC) has announced the appointment of Junda Morris, Founder and CEO of JMK Production LLC, as its new President in the United States.

With years of experience in fashion production and event management, Morris is expected to play a key role in strengthening the Council’s presence and influence across the diaspora fashion industry.

According to westafricafashioncouncil.com, Morris, a globally recognized fashion producer, cultural ambassador, and PR strategist, brings over two decades of experience in elevating African fashion on international platforms. As the visionary behind Runway International Shows—which has produced fashion showcases in the U.S., Liberia, Ghana, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, and beyond—she has consistently championed African designers, models, and brands on the world stage.

In her new role, Morris will spearhead the Council’s U.S. chapter, driving initiatives to:

* Expand *manufacturing and distribution opportunities* for West African fashion brands.

* Strengthen *diaspora connections* to the African fashion economy.

* Provide platforms for *youth empowerment, scholarships, and mentorship programs* across the region.

* Position West Africa as a *global hub of creativity and innovation* in fashion.

“I am honored to serve as President of the West Africa Fashion Council USA,” said Morris. “West Africa has long been the heartbeat of creativity on the continent. From Nigeria, the largest country in Africa, to Liberia, the oldest republic with direct ties to the United States, our region holds a powerful story that deserves global recognition. My mission is to amplify that story, empower our creatives, and ensure West African fashion thrives on every runway and retail market worldwide.”

The West Africa Fashion Council serves as a unifying body to advocate for designers, models, manufacturers, and cultural practitioners across the sub-region, ensuring that the global fashion industry recognizes and invests in West Africa’s immense potential.
