Kenya Targets MICE Leadership

Kenya has expressed strong confidence in its readiness to host the upcoming Africa-France Summit, as construction work at the Bomas International Convention Complex (BICC) reaches an advanced and satisfactory stage.

Officials overseeing the project described the pace and quality of work as “impressive,” noting that the facility will be fully prepared to receive thousands of delegates expected for the high-profile summit scheduled for next month.

The development is being driven under the leadership of President William Samoei Ruto, whose administration has prioritised the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) sector as a key pillar of Kenya’s tourism growth strategy.

Once completed, the BICC is expected to significantly boost the country’s capacity to host large-scale international events, with the ability to accommodate over 10,000 delegates in a modern, world-class environment. The facility is also designed to position Kenya as a leading destination for business tourism and global summits across Africa.

Beyond its immediate role in hosting the Africa-France Summit, the BICC is set to play a broader economic role by generating employment opportunities and attracting new investment into the country’s tourism and hospitality value chain.

Authorities also emphasised that the project will preserve the cultural significance of the Bomas site while transforming it into a contemporary hub for conferences and exhibitions.

With preparations in top gear, officials say Kenya is ready to welcome the world, reinforcing its growing reputation as a premier destination for international events under the “Magical Kenya” brand.
