In addition to the annual International Day of Yoga celebrated annually on June 21st since inception in 2015, Gambia’s First Yoga Lodge Sindola Safari Lodge in Kanilai is set to host Weekend Yoga Retreat slated from 29th June to 1st July 2018.
The celebration is meant for everyone that wishes to prepare his or her body, spirit and mind through different Yoga activities that would promote health and happiness.
There will be special activities for people who wished to spend weekend with friends and family, do something good for their health, or have time out from the hustling and bustling of the city to serenity place, includes Yoga and meditation session, Yoga workshop for both adults and kids; Yoga practices (asana), breathing practices (pranayama), guided relaxation, nature walk and visit to Kanilai Zoo, self-study and practices among others.
According to the management of Sindola Yoga Retreat Lodge, “either you are a beginner or a long-time Yoga practitioner, the Yoga and activity workshop would enrich you to relax and renew your body, mind and spirit as Yoga makes you happier.”
The International Day of Yoga on June 21st was declared by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on December 11th 2014. The declaration came at the call for the adoption of June 21st as International Day of Yoga by Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi in his address to UNGA on September 27th, 2014.
