The Group General Manager, Lake Bogoria Groups of Hotels, Kenya has won the coveted Africa Travel 100 Award which recognises exceptional women in the travel and tourism sector.

M/s. Lydia Dentewo Yator, is a Kenyan born passionate tourism and hospitality leader with a distinguished career as a hospitality Practitioner, advocating for sustainable tourism with over 15 years’ experience in East Africa.

She is a visionary, enthusiast, hands on, talented, experienced and self-driven professional leader in handling various functions, from managing hotels supply chain, designing, organizing, stewarding, Pre- opening and evaluating operations in retail and hospitality establishments. She has been accredited in turning loss making organizations in to profitable institutions leading to growth and expansion of its operations.

Currently, she serves as the Group General Manager at Lake Bogoria Groups of Hotels which constitutes Lake bogoria Spa Resort, Rift Valley Hills Resort and Kabarak Guest House. She also serves as a Director of Lord Errol Gourmet Restaurant in Nairobi and doubles up as part time Lecturer at Kabarak and Egerton universities.

She is a Finalist PHD student in Business management, having graduated with MBA in Strategic Management as well as a Bachelor of Commerce all from the University of Nairobi.

She is an Alumnus of Renowned Hospitality College, Kenya Utalii where she studied management. Lydia has a Post Graduate Certification from the Chartered Institute of Marketing as an Associate Member and Chartered Institute of Management Accounts (CIM & CIMA).

She is a member of Women in Tourism Association, a Vice Chair North Rift Tourism Association, a Mentor at Global Women Mentorship Programme, a trainer and aspiring leadership coach.

Lydia sits in various Boards – Public Boards (Kenya Ports Authority) and schools (Lake Bogoria Girls, Tulwobmoi and Kapkelewa Secondary. Currently she is actively involved in programs in uplifting the girl child from the less privileged society in the rural areas through awarding scholarships and motivational talks and key anti FMG Crusader.
