Tourism: NICON Luxury CEO, Abimbola Ogunlusi Wins Africa Travel 100 Women Award

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, NICON Luxury Hotel, Abuja, Abimbola Ogunlusi has won the coveted Africa Travel 100 Award which recognises exceptional women in the travel and tourism sector.

Abimbola is a professional hotelier, hospitality trainer, nutritionist, business management consultant, and philanthropist. She holds a Postgraduate degree in Hospitality Management with distinction and a master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) and Human Nutrition (MSc.) from reputable universities. She is an alumna of the Said Business school, University of Oxford and University of Glasgow, United Kingdom.

Abimbola has about two decades of experience in the hospitality industry. Also, a vital project management skill in delivering superb measurements and evaluations (M&E) indicators. With a penchant for excellence, innovation, and strategic directions, she has turned around organisations, including many hospitality outfits, thus ensuring profitability and business sustainability. Abimbola is a team player; hence, the ability to deliver projects on time and schedule.

After several years of excellent organisational performance and strong leadership skills in corporate institutions, Abimbola joined the chains of Energy Group Hotels and rose to the position of General Manager and Managing Director, respectively. She is a member of the Institute for Tourism Professionals of Nigeria (ITPN), the Hospitality and Tourism Association of Nigeria (HATMAN -Abuja chapter), the Nigeria Institute of Management-Chartered (NIM), the Nutrition Society of Nigeria (NSN), and recently, the American Nutrition Society (ASN). She has received excellence awards, such as the “every woman is a gemstone award and the award of merit by HATMAN, Abuja chapter”.

Currently, Abimbola is the MD/CEO of Nicon Luxury Hotel Abuja, formerly le Meridien Hotel, and founder of a culinary Institute-QMDCI hospitality training institute, Abuja and Bimbola Nutrition-a non-governmental organisation that focuses on wellness and total health of populations. Overall, Abimbola is an astute leader and business management expert with a great interest in research and big data analytics.
She is happily married with children.
