Tourism: Wakanow, Asky Airlines partner to grow passenger traffic, expand destinations in Africa.

Pan African Airline, Asky Airlines and top travel organisation in Nigeria, Wakanow have signed a commercial agreement that will see both firms working together to grow the airlines passenger figures and expand its operations into other African destinations.

Commercial and Ground Operations Director, Asky Airlines, Nowel Ngala while speaking at a ceremony to mark the partnership with Wakanow said the agreement marks a major milestone in Asky’s sales and marketing efforts across is fast-growing network of over 25 destinations in Africa, particularly in a very big market like Nigeria.

He stated that the primary objective of the airline since it commenced operations 12 years ago has been to promote regional integration, tourism and to provide the shortest and comfortable transportation facility to the population at affordable fares to promote trade and development amongst states.

Ngala disclosed that Asky is currently working to start flight operations into Sao Tome and Principe from October 15th 2022 adding that additional destinations will include Luanda, Nairobi, Nouakchott, Cape Town, Casablanca, and flights into Europe from Next year.

He said: “Today marks a major milestone in ASKY’s sales and marketing efforts across its fast-growing network of over 25 destinations in Africa, particularly in a very big market like Nigeria.

“As you all are aware, ASKY is a private airline based in Lome, Togo owned by four major shareholders, mostly regional banks, The West Africa Bank of Development- BOAD, The Ecowas Bank of Development – EBID, Ecobank and Ethiopian Airlines as its strategic partner with a management and maintenance agreement to ensure the success of the airline.

“ASKY has 12 aircraft operating from its hub in Lome, Togo with about 500 employees in total from 32 different nationalities. We have full presence in over 25 markets with the most recent being Johannesburg and Cape Verde, and we are currently working to start flights into Sao Tome and Principe from this October 15th. Other additional destinations will include Luanda, Nairobi, Nouakchott, Cape Town, Casablanca, and flights into Europe from Next year.

“We strongly believe that with such partnership with WAKANOW, a very strong home based travel operator that also believes in the Pan African renaissance with their current expansion across other markets outside Nigeria, it was time for both companies to establish this win-win long lasting partnership that will further provide the necessary services to our joint customers.

“Wakanow, has been identified by ASKY as a modern and highly technological driven service provider for travelers with its uniqueness and ability to handle travel request and needs of customers in a timely, professional, and efficient manner, which is what we need in terms of speed to market to conquer”.

Speaking also at the event, Chief Executive Officer, Wakanow, Bayo Adedeji0 the firm is excited to work with Asky Airlines and is ready to replicate the successes it recorded with North African Carrier, Egypt Air last year when it went into a partnership with the carrier.

He said: “The first partnership that Wakanow did was with Egypt Air. We did a partnership with Egypt Air last year to open up Egypt to the Nigerian customers. And this year, we are doing another one with Asky.

“I say it often that we are in the forefront of innovation, we have left the world of competing, we are now in the forefront of opening things up and solving problems for customers. And that is why we are excited about this partnership with Asky. Because this partnership allows us to do amazing things. Asky gives us that opportunity to open up Africa and sell Africa more than we have ever done. We will make Asky proud.”
