Egypt’s President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi ordered the use of the planned reopening ceremony of the Rams Road in Luxor to internationally promote the country’s tourism soft power and ancient civilisation.
According to english.ahram.org.eg, El-Sisi directed that this ceremony should reflect the richness of Luxor governorate as an integrated global tourist destination.
In a meeting with Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Khaled El-Enani, the president reviewed activities and projects implemented by the ministry, Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady said in a statement.
El-Enani briefed El-Sisi on the tourism flow situation and measures taken to promote Egyptian destinations to exploit the unique and diverse elements that Egypt possesses, especially with the start of the winter tourism season.
He also reviewed continuous coordination with the various ministries and relevant authorities to ensure a rapid recovery of the tourism sector from the repercussions of the coronavirus pandemic, including the recent launch of a direct flight line between Luxor and Sharm El Sheikh.

El-Sisi directed to increase medical staff at the airports and to boost coordination between all the state bodies to ensure smooth tourist movement and provide tourists with the best services.
Egypt is scheduled to hold a ceremony next month for the reopening of the ancient Rams Road after its restoration is completed, less than a year after the spectacular Pharaohs’ Golden Parade that saw the transfer of 22 mummies from the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir to the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization.
The ancient road extends around 2,700 metres between the Karnak and Luxor temples, comprising 1,200 ram-headed sphinx statues on both sides.
