Africa: Former Minister Edem Duke Leads Calas Vegas Band To Clinch Victory At 2023 Carnival Calabar Parade

In a dazzling display of creativity and artistry, Calas Vegas Band, led by the esteemed former Minister for Culture and Tourism, High Chief Edem Duke, has emerged as the triumphant winner of the 2023 Carnival Calabar festival parade.

The highly contested event showcased a fierce competition among vibrant bands, with Calas Vegas securing the top spot.

Passion 4 Band claimed a well-deserved second place, while Seagull Band secured the third position, rounding out the podium of winners in the carnival parade. The event featured a lineup of spirited bands, including Bayside Band, Diamond Band, Freedom Band, Master Blaster Band, Passion 4 Band, and Seagull Band, each contributing to the lively and colorful spectacle.

In the Children Carnival Category, Passion 4 Band took the lead, with Seagull Band securing second place and Calas Vegas securing the third spot.

The celebration extended to local government achievements, with Odukpani Local Government Area claiming the top position, followed by Akpabuyo in second place and Calabar South in third place.

The Cultural Festival category saw Akwa Ibom State taking the coveted first place, followed by Ebonyi State in second, while Edo and Ondo States shared the third-place honors in the States Category.

The victory of Calas Vegas in the Carnival Calabar Parade adds another chapter to the legacy of High Chief Edem Duke, showcasing not only the band’s artistic prowess but also the enduring spirit of celebration and unity that defines the Carnival Calabar experience.
