Kenya is stepping up efforts to expand the contribution of tourism to the national economy, with the country targeting KSh1 trillion in tourism’s contribution to GDP through increased investment in destination marketing and the development of its luxury tourism proposition. The Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) has partnered with Tatler Africa through a three-year subvention agreement aimed at bringing the inaugural Tatler Best of Africa event to Kenya and establishing the Tatler Africa office on the continent.
The partnership is expected to provide Kenya with a high-profile platform to showcase its tourism and luxury offerings to global audiences while strengthening the country’s position as a leading destination for high-value travellers. Kenya’s luxury tourism proposition extends beyond traditional safari experiences, encompassing its wildlife conservation, coastline, private retreats, world-class hospitality, cuisine, culture, fashion, art and creativity. Over the three-year partnership, KTB plans to leverage Tatler Africa’s platform to generate international awareness and demand for Kenya, while creating greater opportunities for tourism businesses and professionals across the value chain.
The initiative is expected to benefit hotels, lodges, tour operators, designers, chefs, artisans, creatives and other tourism professionals, providing them with access to global audiences and potential new markets. KTB said the partnership represents an important milestone for Kenya as it prepares to host the first Tatler Best of Africa event, positioning the country at the centre of Africa’s growing luxury tourism and lifestyle market.
The collaboration also reflects Kenya’s broader strategy of moving beyond volume-driven tourism towards attracting high-value visitors, increasing tourism spending and maximising the sector’s contribution to economic growth. With the Tatler Africa office also set to be hosted in Kenya, the country is positioning itself as a hub for luxury travel, hospitality, lifestyle and creative industries on the continent.
