Tembea

Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) has launched the Tembea Kenya – Hapa Ni Wapi Sales Conversion Campaign, an initiative aimed at turning growing interest in domestic travel into actual bookings by offering Kenyans affordable, clearly priced and readily bookable holiday packages.

KTB Chief Executive Officer June Chepkemei said the campaign builds on years of domestic tourism promotion, including the Tembea Kenya – Hapa Ni Wapi campaign, by working with travel trade partners to make it easier for Kenyans to move from discovering local destinations to booking trips.

“Today, we mark the launch of a campaign that takes Kenya’s domestic tourism effort in a new direction.

For years, Kenya’s domestic tourism has been shaped by strong destination marketing, compelling stories, and national pride. The effort has been further sustained through campaigns like Tembea Kenya – Hapa ni Wapi, which has been inviting Kenyans to rediscover the country they call home.

However, inspiring Kenyans to see their own country is only half the job. Getting them to actually book the trip is the other half.

The Tembea Kenya – Hapa Ni Wapi Sales Conversion Campaign is our response to that. We have worked with the travel trade to put together packages that are affordable, clearly priced, and available to book right now.

Chalbi Desert in Northern Kenya is where we begin, as we introduce Kenyans to what this extraordinary landscape, and the wider north, truly offers.

Fifty tour operators drawn from the Tour Operators Society of Kenya and the Kenya Association of Tour Operators are participating in this first activation, supported by accommodation facilities and county governments. After Chalbi, the campaign moves to Mambrui, Malindi, and Western Kenya.

KTB’s role is to lead the marketing effort nationally, coordinate the industry, and track what matters most: bookings, bed nights, and business for our tourism enterprises.

Our target is 5.6 million domestic bed nights this financial year. It is a target we are committed to reaching together with our industry partners.

I, therefore, invite every Kenyan to look out for Tembea Kenya – Hapa Ni Wapi packages and take that trip today.
