Kenya’s tourism industry stakeholders have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening partnerships and driving visitor arrivals towards the country’s target of 5.5 million tourists, following the Kenya Association of Tour Operators (KATO) Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Gala Dinner.

The event provided an opportunity for tourism marketers and travel trade partners to strengthen relationships and discuss ways to translate destination marketing efforts into actual bookings and measurable results.

The gathering was attended by Hon. Rebecca Miano, Cabinet Secretary for Tourism and Wildlife, alongside tourism industry stakeholders who celebrated the sector’s progress and reflected on the importance of resilience, collaboration and strategic partnerships in sustaining growth.

KATO is one of Kenya’s leading tourism trade associations, representing more than 300 experienced and professional tour operators across the country. Its members play a significant role in connecting international and domestic travellers with Kenya’s tourism experiences through tour packages, travel services and destination promotion.

The association’s extensive network makes it an important partner in the country’s efforts to increase tourist arrivals, strengthen destination competitiveness and expand the economic benefits of tourism.

Industry stakeholders emphasised that closer cooperation between government agencies, destination marketers and tour operators would be crucial to converting promotional campaigns into bookings and attracting more visitors to Kenya.

With the country pursuing a target of 5.5 million tourists, the KATO AGM and Gala Dinner highlighted the importance of working closely with travel trade partners to sustain momentum, improve market reach and position Kenya as a leading tourism destination.

The event also underscored the role of industry partnerships in building a more resilient tourism sector capable of responding to changing travel trends and growing international competition.
