The Oyo State Government has unveiled an expansive lineup of holiday activities under its “Vibing December in Oyo State” initiative, aimed at boosting tourism, culture and entertainment across the state.
The programme was formally launched with a press conference and a ceremonial flag-off walk, introducing more than 20 events including carnivals, festivals and fiestas scheduled to run throughout December and into the New Year.
Speaking on the initiative, the Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Dr Wasiu Olatunbosun, highlighted five flagship events from the calendar.
These include Legendary December, in collaboration with Nigerian Breweries Plc, featuring concerts and a designated enjoyment village running through the month; the week-long Ogbomosho Cradle Carnival, celebrating heritage and cultural artistry with a grand finale on December 22; and the OYO Durbar #Jekafaaji, a colourful display of tradition and entertainment set for December 27 at Olivet Baptist High School, Oyo.
Also featured are Cruising with Celebrities, an entertainment cruise at Eleyele River, Ibadan, running from December 24 to the early hours of January 1, and the First Ibadan Mega City Trade Fair, holding from December 19 to 22 at Liberty Stadium, Ibadan.
Dr Olatunbosun said the initiative is designed to attract visitors, stimulate the local economy and position Oyo State as a major Detty December destination.
