Africa: Rick Taylor’s Business Tourism Company honoured for contribution to Ethiopian M.I.C.E. industry

The Business Tourism Company, a South African based outfit founded by one of the continent’s leading tourism professionals, Rick Taylor has been awarded a Certificate of Recognition by the Ethiopian tourism agency, Tourism Ethiopia, and the Ethiopian Convention tourism Bureau.

The Certificate of Recognition which was issued on February 2, 2021 stated that the Business Tourism Company got the honour “for the support provided to the development of MICE tourism in Ethiopia and establishment of the Ethiopian Convention Bureau.”

CEO of Business Company, Rick Taylor is one the most important tourism person from Africa. The South African entrepreneur was listed by the organisers of Akwaaba African Travel Market, the leading Pan-African Tourism Expo, on Africa Travel 100 Global Personalities in 2019.

At the 16th Akwaaba African Travel Market which was held as a virtual event in September 2020, Rick Taylor was the lead speaker on the topic “Is M.I.C.E a Viable Pathway for Tourism Recovery in Africa?”

In his paper presentation titled, M.I.C.E. – A Viable Pathway for Africa’s Tourism Recovery, Rick Taylor, traced the origin of the MICE industry from inception to its arrival on the continent and the establishment of convention bureaus to the present global challenge of COVID-19, before rounding off with the vision for Africa.
