Mr. Nnamdi (second name withheld said he was shocked to his bone marrows when he walked into his apartment on April 20, 2016 and saw his friend, Ihuoma, who is also a neighbour, raping his seven-month-pregnant wife. A visibly bewildered Nnamdi said that he was short of words and thought of doing something felonious when he walked into his apartment and saw his pregnant wife and Ihuoma naked. Although Nnamdi confessed to have found his wife and Ihuoma naked on their matrimonial bed, he however insisted that his wife was raped. He said that before he could recover from his shock, Ihuoma, 40, gathered his trouser and dashed out the door. Nnamdi, who works with interstate buses, said: “Ihuoma lives on our street. We used to greet each other. I never knew he was planning this sort of thing for me. On that fateful day in April, I left to hire a bus for a church member that wanted to embark on a journey. I returned home earlier than expected. I entered my compound and immediately realised that something was not right. It was unusually quiet. I dropped my shirt at the back yard and entered my house. “What I saw was shocking! My pregnant wife was totally naked.
When they sighted me, Ihuoma quickly put on his trouser and ran out. I could have committed either murder or suicide that day, but for the grace of God.” When Nnamdi got over his shock, he threatened his wife and demanded for the truth. The woman, Precious, said that Ihuoma forced himself on her. Nnamdi reported the matter at the Ikotun Police Station. Ihuoma was arrested and detained. According to Nnamdi, Ihuoma had been sending threat messages to him, ever since he caught him pants down, his wife. Ihuoma was arrested and charged to court. He was granted bail but remanded in prison custody when he couldn’t meet his bail conditions. Ihuoma, a father of four, allegedly raped Precious on April 20, 2016 in her husband’s house, at 16, Mutairu Ali Street, Ijegun Road, Ikotun, Lagos. Kenny Classic is a friend to both Nnamdi and Ihuoma. He’s also a neighbour in the street He told our correspondent that the relationship between the woman and Ihuoma started last year. Classic alleged that Precious and Ihuoma had been meeting at different hotels. According to Classic, the relationship between Precious and Ihuoma had been going on for long, to the extent that everyone knew about it, including Nnamdi. Classic explained that Nnamdi and Precious had gone to their village in Imo State, to seek ways to stop the continual affair of Precious with Ihuoma.
Classic said: “They stayed three months and returned to Lagos. This time, Ihuoma and Precious graduated from going to hotels, to using Nnamdi’s home for lovemaking. This was a real threat to the threeyear- old marriage.” To proof an existing affair, a text message, sent by Ihuoma to Precious, was presented by Classic. The message reads: “Baby, that thing is ‘hungering’ me again oh. Please come and meet me at Ikotun.” It was gathered that police demanded for medical report to proof that there was penile penetration of the pregnant woman. A medical examination was conducted at Igando General Hospital, which allegedly showed that there was actual penile penetration. The husband denied being responsible for the penile penetration. The matter was charged to an Ikeja Magistrates Court, where Ihuoma was arraigned on three count charges of assault, unlawful sexual intercourse and unlawful sexual harassment. He pleaded not guilty to all. Part of the charge reads: “that you Uzoma Ihuoma on April, 20, 2016 at Ikotun, Lagos in the Lagos Magisterial District did unlawfully had sexual intercourse with one Mrs. Precious Nnamdi without her consent and thereby committed an offence under Section 258(2) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State.” The Prosecutor, Inspector Peter Nwagu, told the court that the issue of raping a pregnant woman was a heinous case which would be referred to the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) for advice. Defense counsel, Mr. Osita Egeonu, prayed the court to grant the defendant bail on ‘most liberal of terms.’ Magistrates, Y.O Aje-Afunwa, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties, each in like sum, with tax verification. She adjourned the case till June 6, 2016 for proof of evidence.
