African Aviation: Air Cote D’Ivoire begins direct flights from Accra, Ghana to Cotonou and Libreville

Air Cote D’Ivoire, one of West Africa’s leading airlines, is set to commence direct flight operations from Accra, the Ghanaian capital to Libreville and also connecting Cotonou, Benin, capital.

The airline in a release said it will now operate four times weekly flight to and from Accra to Cotonou on Tuesdays, Thursdays Saturdays and Sundays starting from the 1st of April 2017.

The airline stated that it will also operate four weekly flights to Libreville from the Ghanaian capital on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

Air Cote d’Ivoire according to atqnews.com had earlier announced plans to scale up its flight frequencies on some West Africa routes in a bid to deepen it operations on the West and Central Africa.

The airline said effective April 1st, 2017, it will increase it flight frequencies to Dakar to 14 flights per week, operating two flights per day.

Air Cote D’Ivoire also revealed that it will also increase it frequencies to Bamako to 10 flights per week and 9 flights per week to Conakry, the Guinean capital.

It said it will operate 7 flights per week to Brazzaville, Ougadougou, Niamey and Monrovia.

Air Côte d’Ivoire  had in the first quarter of 2016 placed an order for three A320neos and two A320s, becoming the first African airline to order the A320neo.

CEO, René Décurey, explained that this demonstrated the airline’s commitment to accelerate its growth in western and central Africa, which has already resulted in it tripling passenger numbers over the past three years.

The airline’s fleet now comprises four A319s, one A320 and four leased Bombardier Q400s. The first A320neo is scheduled for delivery in July 2017.

Though Air Cote d’lvoire is based in Abidjan, it is operating flights out of Accra on fifth freedom rights picking and dropping passengers in Accra.
