A new report has revealed the rankings of Africa’s largest airlines, showcasing their annual passenger numbers alongside their fleet strengths.
According to a post on X formerly known as Twitter by Africa Facts Zone, Ethiopian Airlines maintains a commanding lead, carrying 19.1 million passengers annually and operating the continent’s biggest fleet with 167 aircraft.

EgyptAir follows with 10.3 million passengers and 67 planes, while Air Algerie ranks third with 7.9 million passengers and a fleet of 56 aircraft.
Royal Air Maroc closely trails with 7.5 million passengers and 60 planes, and low-cost carrier FlySafair records 6 million passengers.
Kenya Airways carries 5.2 million passengers with a fleet of 35 planes. Nigeria’s Air Peace also stands out, transporting 3 million passengers and operating 37 aircraft, placing it among the largest airlines on the continent.
