Business Insider Africa presents the best airport lounges in Africa for 2024, as ranked by Skytrax. These lounges have gained prominence across the continent, offering travelers a luxurious and comfortable experience with high-quality amenities and services.

According to africa.businessinsider.com, Airport lounges have become a key component of modern air travel, offering travellers a welcome break from crowded terminals and a touch of luxury before their flights.

The appeal of airport lounges has grown significantly in recent years. According to Mordor Intelligence, the global airport lounges market is projected to expand from USD 4.21 billion in 2024 to USD 9.44 billion by 2029, growing at a robust CAGR of 17.52% during this period.

This growth is driven by several factors, including the increasing affluence of the middle class in emerging markets and a rising demand for premium travel experiences worldwide.

In Africa, airport lounges have also gained prominence, with an increasing number of high-quality lounges enhancing the travel experience across the continent.

Below are the best airport lounges in Africa in 2024:

1) Amédée Maingard Lounge at Mauritius SSR Airport (4 star)
Situated in a coveted location at the new airport terminal, the Amédée Maingard Lounge offers luxurious and comfortable seating for up to 400 guests. This inviting and restful environment features two levels, with the Tamarin Lounge on Level 1 and the Chamarel Lounge on Level 2.

Access is free for Business Class passengers and Kestrelflyer Gold members. The Amédée Maingard Lounge is also available to Economy Class passengers upon request and subject to availability. The access fee is EUR 50 per adult and EUR 25 per child up to twelve years old. Infants under 2 years old can enter for free.

The lounge position has fine views over the apron and runway, and this also gives excellent natural light. Despite the age of the lounge, furniture and decor is well maintained.

6.South African Airways Domestic Lounge at Johannesburg Airport (4 star)

Facilities include six showers, a smoking room, and a small children’s room. Most areas are equipped with TVs playing news.
