Ethiopian Airlines has issued an advisory outlining mandatory Fit-to-Fly procedures for medical passengers after recording an increase in cases of travelers missing flights due to incomplete documentation.
The airline said all medical travelers must undergo strict pre-departure checks to avoid denied boarding and schedule disruptions.
As part of the requirements, travel partners are instructed to verify visa categories before ticket issuance, particularly for passengers traveling from Nigeria to India for medical purposes. Passengers holding medical visas are required to obtain a Fit-to-Fly certificate prior to departure.

The Fit-to-Fly certificate must be obtained 24 to 48 hours before departure and issued only by airline-designated doctors.
In Lagos, designated certification is available at Charms Clinic, located at 15 Adetokunbo Ademola Street, Victoria Island, under the supervision of Dr. Charles Hammond.
In Abuja, approved facilities include Dr. Hassan’s Hospital, situated at Iller Crescent, 5 Katsina Ala Street, Maitama, and Abuja Clinic, located at 22 Amazon Street, Maitama.
Completed documents must be submitted at the airline’s Ticketing Office at 3 Idowu Taylor Street, Victoria Island, on weekdays. Submissions on weekends and public holidays are to be made at the Airport Office in the Departure Hall.
The airline said the directive aligns with international aviation safety standards and is aimed at protecting passenger well-being while ensuring smooth travel operations. Management urged full compliance from travel partners to prevent further disruptions.
