As part of efforts to help international travellers access trusted and coordinated healthcare while away from home, NAVALA Travel Health has officially launched its digital healthcare platform in Ghana. According to CitiNews, the platform was launched in Accra on August 14, 2026, in partnership with the Africa Medical Tourism Council (AMTC).

The platform connects travellers with licensed healthcare providers, hospitals and pharmacies, offering services that include telemedicine, in-person consultations, emergency coordination, specialist referrals and medical concierge support. At the launch, Ghana’s Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, described the initiative as an important addition to the country’s tourism infrastructure, stressing that visitors increasingly seek not only attractive destinations but also safety, healthcare access and confidence during their travels.

NAVALA Travel Health Founder and CEO Dr. Fungisai Nota said the platform was created to address the uncertainty travellers face when they become ill in unfamiliar destinations, providing a human-supported system for finding and coordinating appropriate medical care. The platform’s model combines digital technology with human care coordination, allowing travellers to create a secure health profile, access virtual consultations and receive assistance in identifying suitable local providers when further treatment is required.

The partnership with the Africa Medical Tourism Council is expected to further strengthen connections between international travellers and Ghanaian healthcare facilities, while supporting the country’s ambitions in medical and health tourism. The launch comes as Ghana continues to position tourism as a broader economic sector encompassing leisure, business, culture and healthcare. The initiative therefore adds a health-support layer to the visitor experience, potentially strengthening Ghana’s competitiveness as a destination for international travellers.
