Africa’s music industry continues its global rise, and new figures have revealed the continent’s top-selling artists, with Nigerian superstar Wizkid leading the pack at over 81 million units sold worldwide.
According to Africa Fact Zone, on its official x account, the data reflects the sustained influence of African musicians across global charts, streaming platforms, and international markets.
Sharing the No. 1 spot is Algerian raï icon Cheb Khaled, whose decades-long career has also earned him 81 million units sold, underscoring his enduring legacy and cross-continental appeal.

Nigerian Grammy winner Burna Boy follows with 55 million units, further cementing his position as one of Africa’s most commercially successful contemporary artists.
Egypt dominates the middle tier with long-standing pop stars Amr Diab at 50 million units, and both Tamer Hosny and Sherine each surpassing 40 million units in sales, showcasing the strength of North Africa’s music market.
Nigeria maintains its presence with veteran duo P-Square, credited with 40 million units sold, reflecting their impact during the height of Afrobeats’ expansion.
The new generation of Afrobeats acts is also well-represented. Global hit-maker Rema records 30 million units, driven by his breakout success with “Calm Down,” while CKay and Tems each notch 25 million units, marking them as some of Africa’s most influential young exports.
The ranking highlights the accelerating global demand for African music, from Afrobeats to raï and Arabic pop. As African artists continue to dominate international charts and headline major festivals, the continent’s cultural impact shows no signs of slowing.
