March 3rd, World Wildlife Day, the Nigerian Tourism Development Authority (North Central Zone, Jos) joined the celebration at the Jos Zoo and Zoological Gardens, Jos Museum. The event highlighted wildlife conservation and the importance of protecting biodiversity in Nigeria.

World Wildlife Day provides an opportunity to: Raise awareness about the threats facing wildlife, including poaching, habitat loss, and climate change. Encourage eco-friendly actions to protect the natural habitats of endangered species.

The major highlights at the event is celebrating Bobby the chimpanzee at 62 years , chimps live on the average of 33-36 years but Bobby the chimp at Jos zoo has lived 30 years extra.. Bobby is marking to be in the World Guinness book of record.

The awareness and importance of a wildlife conservation, Honoring those who have been a great help to the zoological gardens, importance of collaboration with government, civil society and the private sector.

We also witnessed the feeding of lions at the Jos zoo. An event that brought in professors of veterinary, Prof Lami lombin was in attendance, schools in plateau state, ministry of tourism, state tourism corporation, stake holders, Conservationist etc.
