Commercial air travel has resumed in Jalingo as Danbaba Suntai Airport welcomed its first flight since undergoing major upgrades.
The Overland Airways flight 5N-CCN landed successfully, signaling a new phase for aviation in Taraba State under the infrastructure push led by Governor Agbu Kefas.
According to businessday.ng, the Overland 5N-CCN touched down at exactly 1:22pm last week Thursday, amid jubilation and applause for Governor Kefas.
Addressing Journalists on the development, John Kizito Bonzena, Speaker, Taraba State House of Assembly, lauded Governor Agbu Kefas for “the good works he is doing in the State.”
He said the re-modelling of the Airport by the governor was aimed at opening up the State to investors and the outside world.
The Speaker assured the people of the State as well investors willing to come over to the State that in no distant time, there would be daily flights in and outside the State, adding that more airlines would also commence fights in the State soon.
Gebon Timothy Kataps and Jeji Williams, the Secretary to the State Government and Chief of Staff, respectively, commended the governor for his unwavering commitment at opening up the State for development partners and investors for progress.
Williams lauded the governor for prioritising security issues which had stabilised the State, noting that the Airport was going to have a cargo section which is under construction, urging Tarabans to give the governor the necessary support and co-operation.
Captain Gilbert Sampa, Captain and Flight Operations Manager of Overland Airways, congratulated Tarabans over the milestone achievement at the Airport and encouraged travellers to keep patronising the Airport and the Overland Airways.
