At the centre of Kenya’s dynamic aviation landscape, Wilson Airport remains a critical gateway linking passengers, enterprises, tourism circuits, and humanitarian missions across the region.
Reinforcing government commitment to modernising the strategic hub, the Principal Secretary for Aviation and Aerospace Development, Teresia Mbaika, conducted an inspection visit to assess the progress of major infrastructure improvement projects currently underway at the airport.
The enhancement programme is being implemented in phases and includes critical repairs to sections of the runway, strengthening operational resilience while ensuring minimal disruption to the airport’s daily activities.

Accompanying the Principal Secretary during the inspection was the Director for Air Services at the Ministry of Transport, Nicholas Bodo, and the Director and Chief Investigator within the Ministry’s Air Accident Investigation Department (AAID), Fredrick Kabunge.
Also present was KAA Ag. MD, Dr. Mohamud Gedi; General Manager, Engineering, Eng. Meshack Ochieng; General Manager, Operations and Safety, Dr. Simon Peter; and the Regional Airport Manager in charge of Wilson Airport and the Northern Region, Selina Gor.
The tour underscored the government’s commitment to modernizing aviation infrastructure and ensuring that Wilson Airport remains well positioned to support Kenya’s growing aviation sector while maintaining safe and efficient operations.
