The Nigerian Tourism Development Authority (NTDA) has reaffirmed its commitment to fostering strategic partnerships with state governments as part of efforts to unlock the vast potential of Nigeria’s tourism sector and promote sustainable destination development.
During a recent visit to Kano State, the Director-General of NTDA, Ola Awakan, paid a courtesy call on the Kano State Tourism Board, where he was received by the Managing Director, Tukur B. Sagagi.
The meeting provided a platform for both institutions to explore areas of collaboration aimed at advancing tourism promotion, preserving cultural heritage, and leveraging the sector as a catalyst for economic growth and job creation in the state. As part of the engagement, the NTDA delegation toured some of Kano’s most prominent cultural and historical attractions, including Gidan Dan Hausa and Gidan Makama Museum, both of which showcase the rich history, traditions, and architectural heritage of the ancient city.

The delegation also paid a courtesy visit to Sanusi Lamido Sanusi II, underscoring the vital role of traditional institutions in preserving Nigeria’s cultural identity and supporting tourism development.
The visit highlights NTDA’s ongoing efforts to strengthen cooperation with key stakeholders across the country, positioning culturally rich destinations such as Kano as attractive tourism hubs.
Through collaboration, investment, and sustainable tourism initiatives, the Authority aims to enhance visitor experiences, stimulate local economies, and showcase Nigeria’s diverse heritage to domestic and international audiences.
