Africa: UAE Revises 30 Day and 60 Day Tourist and Transit Visa Requirements for Nigerian Travellers and Introduces $1,000 Deposit Rule

The requirements for obtaining UAE 30-day and 60-day Tourist Visas, as well as Transit Visas to Dubai, have been revised. Applicants are advised to review the updated documentation and application guidelines to ensure a smooth and successful visa application process.

Mandatory Documents
Nigerian nationals who hold a Tourist visa / Residence visa for any third country and intend to visit Dubai, must apply for and obtain their Dubai visa before departing Nigeria to the third country.

Visa Application form duly filled must include an accurate address in the UAE, valid contact number and email address for the passenger.

A photocopy of the confirmed onward or return Emirates ticket along with the passenger’s name with the arrival and return dates. It must match the dates on the hotel reservation. The passenger’s name and the period of stay should be highlighted in Yellow when submitting the ticket for visa application.

A coloured recent passport-size photograph with a white background, must be front-facing and measure 2 × 2 inches, clear, sharp, with adequate brightness and contrast, without any colour filter, showing a close-up of the head and partial shoulders with the face centred and a neutral expression, fully visible from forehead to chin with eyes open, without hair or frames covering the face, against a plain white shadow-free background. Polaroid photos or those printed on ordinary printers are not accepted.

Coloured photocopy of the main (bio) page of the Ordinary/Normal Passport (Valid for a minimum period of 6 months at the time of travel) and Front/ External Cover page. Passports containing special characters such as brackets in the name will not be accepted and must be amended prior to visa submission.

Applicants must provide a valid visa for the destination country travelling to or arriving from the UAE.

Confirmed hotel voucher with confirmation number, applicant’s name, check-in, check-out dates highlighted in yellow for the entire stay. (Check- in, Check- out dates on the hotel confirmation must match the dates on flight tickets). Note that only up to two hotel bookings are allowed for the entire stay period. If visiting Family or Friends: Provide a valid tenancy contract /Ejari or title deed of the host, if the sponsor has an apartment with two or more bedrooms, UAE resident card.(Highlight the tenant’s name in yellow).

The visa application form must include an accurate address in the UAE, valid contact number and email address for the passenger.

For Non-Nigerian Nationals – Colour Copy of the valid CERPAC and residence Permit Visa.

Applicants aged between 18 to 41 years travelling alone or with family must provide the last six months’ bank statements with each month’s balance not less than $10000 (or equivalent) in a single bank statement. If travelling with family, a joint bank statement is accepted; the closing balance must be US $20,000 or more each month. Marriage certificates for couples and birth certificates for children are mandatory requirements.

Security Deposit equivalent to USD 1,000 (Refundable upon return and after producing the entry & exit stamp in UAE).

Past travel records for exemption of USD 1,000 security deposit: Applicants who have Emirates Skywards Platinum and Gold member status, applicants who have travelled to UAE more than once in a year and applicants who have travelled at least once in the last 02 years to or have a valid visa for countries like USA, UK, Schengen countries, European Union, Australia, New Zealand, Russia, Canada and Japan. (Pages exhibiting the evidence of the travel and visa in current or previous passport).

Dubai 48/96hrs Transit Visa
