Kpegekie

A Taste of Nigeria, an annual festival which is the brain child of Nigerian American, Kpegekie is slowly but gradually gaining grounds in the United States.

According to thenewamericansmag.com, her name is Kpegekie, but she goes by Peggy. She is a Nigerian American who grew up loving, learning, and attending cultural events with her family.

No wonder, after a few years, Peggy now finds herself being the one who helps put together those beautiful ceremonies.

In 2014, Peggy and her team embarked on another adventure, and this one hit closer to home. Nine years later, a taste of Nigeria, which started in Dallas/Fort Worth, has grown to nine other cities, including three in Canada.

Kpegekie “Peggy” Simmons specializes in creating memories for loved ones and the community that would one day leave behind lasting memories for years to come. For your big day, Arispop, an event service provider that she owns and operates, allows you to breathe easier as they turn one of the biggest days of your life into a night made for stars.

Taste of Nigeria
A Taste of Nigeria is an annual event produced by Arispop for the Nigerian community and other nationalities interested in learning about the Nigerian and African cultures.

Arispop is a Dallas/Fort Worth-based company that has produced, coordinated, and promoted several events since June 2002.

Festival
The ninth annual event started in Houston in July 2022; since then, the festival has been touring major cities across the U.S. Its last three stops will be in Canada in October of this year.

Upcoming
On August 13, A taste of Nigeria heads to Atlanta, GA, and we are visiting the public for what will be an experience full of cultural activities, food, fashion, and all of the arts & entertainment. They can bring the entire family for a day of absolute fun in Atlanta.

ATL
This year’s festival will take place at Atlantic Station On Tower Street, located at 1380 Atlantic Drive NW, Atlanta, GA, 30363. ATL location is an outdoor event that will kick off at noon with a dance performance, a fashion show with several designers, a comedy performance, a forum on the issues facing Nigeria, and a variety of live music performances by singers, as well as drummers, saxophonists, and disc jockey.

The goal of the festival
“The festival will allow the former residents of Africa to reminisce about their native culture and for others to experience Nigerian culture for the first time.” Our goal estimate is to reach 2,000 attendees per city and experience the Culture through Art & History, Food, Music, Dance, Fashion, and more.

Aim
We aimed to support our local businesses and help provide an opportunity for people in our various communities to experience Nigerian culture and increase diversity.

Plans
“Our ultimate goal is to spread awareness and bridge the gap between those in North America and abroad.”
